With a refugee crisis continuing across the world, Lift the Flap: Questions and Answers about Refugees, is a much-needed book for our youngest readers. Perhaps they have heard the word and wanted to ask questions or found a new student arrived in their class speaking a different language. By understanding some of the basic questions around refugees, this may make children and their families more accepting and understanding.

I love the simplicity of the questions. They are exactly the type of honest questions that curious children would ask. Why did you leave? What did you take? These questions can be hard to answer but the team behind this book has done so, answering with wonderful care and compassion. They have also worked with refugees of all ages to discover their truths and share these within the book.

The truth held beneath each flap can be hard to digest but it helps to be honest about situations taking place around the world. This entire series has such an impact on young readers from 7 years upwards. It helps them to understand their world, ask important questions and discover the answers.
