George Webster is a BBC television presenter, known to thousands of children (and adults) who watch CBeebies. George has Downs Syndrome. By writing this book, he, and his co-writer Claire Taylor, set out to show that everyone deserves to revel in the unique individuals that they are – no matter what differences exist between us all. Television has an impact on viewers’ opinions and CBeebies leads the way by being totally inclusive when presenting their entertaining/educational programmes. In an interview with The Guardian a couple of years ago, George said: ‘It’s really important for children to see me on the TV – I never had anybody like me on the telly growing up’.

This is Me is packed with positivity on every page. It is illustrated throughout with brightly coloured stars and cheery smiles and has masses of ideas to get youngsters talking about their own talent and aspirations. It is a book that can be shared with any age of pupil but is most likely to be appreciated by the youngest ones in schools.
