Dark Blade is a captivating tale of magic, myth and courage.
A well-written fantasy novel full of adventure which will have the reader on the edge of their seats, frantically turning the page to find out what happens to the main characters of the story. Set in the mythical world of the Six Kingdoms it follows the journey of Lann Fetlanger, from his mysterious birth to his mystical destiny being the barer of the dark blade. Lann is tasked with ridding evil from a world he barely understands aided by two strong female characters, Astrid and Fleya.
The reader is quickly immersed into a magical world that is framed by Gods and monsters, though it is up to the reader to decide who is more disturbing, the creatures or the humans Lann encounters. It’s an epic tale which will keep any lover of fantasy novels interested and hungry for more. It’s certainly a book that is hard to put down, with each twist and turn leaving you reluctant to wait to find out what happens next.
As this book has elements of horror and gore it would better suit readers over the age of 12. This could be read as a class book and would fit into a study of myths and legends.
