A journey of adventure, courage and self-belief that will keep all readers hooked!

The Land of Roar is a tale that follows the journey of Arthur and Rose as they enter a land they once helped to create through a fold away bed in their attic. The world of Roar is brought to life by characters such as unicorns, mermaids, a monstrous scarecrow and comedic ninja wizard.

As well a story of heroes and villains, it looks at the changing relationships between siblings that can happen as they get ready to move on to high school. Many children will relate to how Arthur feels when he senses his sister is ready to move on without him; there is much to gain from this book. The author carefully guides you through each event and the excellent illustrations add to the richness of the tale.

The Land of Roar has many applications in the primary classroom. This would be suitable text to read as class novel to prepare children for transition at the end of year 6. The illustrated map with all its detail would be a good starting place for a geography based topic around maps, as well as looking at geographical features found in different parts of the world. Characters feelings and motivations could be discussed in circle times or in philosophy for children.
