Simon Phillip’s Achoo, is a truly laugh-out-loud tale. Nathan Reed’s whacky illustrations match this story perfectly adding to the humour.

This is one story that children are sure to snaffle in one sneezy sitting and will want to read over and over to join Sid on his loud, laughter-inducing adventure. When Sid forgets to cover his nose when he sneezes all sorts of chaos ensues with appearances from an elephant, pandas, circus acts and pirates.

This is a great story to discuss, with children in Early Years and KS1, what happens when we don’t cover our nose when sneezing, allowing adults a fun way to start a dialogue about manners, decorum, spreading germs and being considerate of others.

The illustrations in this book add to the humour of the words and are bright and busy. The layout of the words alongside the illustrations also add interest to the story and would be a great paired read amongst older and younger children, especially whilst children are getting to grips with text direction.
