Find Out about Animal Babies – is exactly what I did when I read this book. Not all animal babies are the same. Some hatch from eggs, some are born in vast oceans, whilst others undergo the most amazing transformations: from egg, to caterpillar, to chrysalis and then to a beautiful butterfy. Totally amazing!

Big babies, small babies, hopping babies, this beautifully illustrated non-fiction picture book is packed with so many interesting animal babies and the parents who look after them or in some cases those who don’t! Turtles lay their eggs and when hatched the baby turtles fend for themselves. Conversely, male elephants stay with their mothers for up to 10 years, whilst female elephants may never leave their mothers.

There are so many facts which children will enjoy discovering. They may acquire new knowledge about the extraordinary places where some animals keep their young. Some keep them in their stomachs or even in their mouths. Very strange!

Find Out about Animal Babies is the perfect match for the key stage one science curriculum and therefore would be best placed in primary classrooms. Or in the school library where children could find out about animal babies just because they enjoy reading nonfiction.
