The best non-fiction publishing for children encourages exploration, inviting readers of all ages to make discoveries. This can be done in a variety of ways, with innovative layouts, distinctive illustrations and photographs, and fold out pages and flaps. All ages, from pre-schoolers sharing books with an adult to teenagers, can find books on a subject to interest them.

Young children are often fascinated by the natural world and encouraging empathy and knowledge in this area is now more important than ever. One Little Seed is a robust, large format board book, with a cut out cover detail, which immediately attracts little fingers to explore, and flaps to lift on every page.

Bright and cheerful illustrations are accompanied by a friendly text featuring a wide range of flowers, some of which may be more familiar than others. Each double page spread takes a different aspect from roots to pollination, helping children learn how different flowers grow, about the insects and minibeasts which live on and around them and encouraging them to plant their own seeds. It is also explained how some flowers grow into fruit and vegetables. A number of activities are included, enabling children to discover the plant life around them. This is a useful addition to the Early Years classroom or library shelves.
