The Super Miraculous Journey of Freddie Yates has a bright, bold cover for a book that packs a punch! Rob Biddulph’s BRILLIANT front cover artwork pulls you into the story. I’m a huge fan of his style, and it suits this book enormously. After reading the blurb, I expected a hilarious adventure full of mishaps, and this is precisely what I got from debut author Jenny Pearson.
Freddie finds himself on a miraculous adventure with his best friends: Ben and Charlie. Freddie is adopted, and he decides to find his birth father. The adventure takes them to Wales, where they think Alan Froggley – his potential biological father – might live. Along the way, the boys find themselves involved in a whole manner of things! Eating onions, being involved in ghostly miracles and performing superhero antics!
I loved The Super Miraculous Journey of Freddie Yates! Freddie’s journey was miraculous. It is a laugh-out-loud adventure with a heart-warming message woven through the pages. Freddie himself is a likeable character, and his friends are funny and confident. Their dynamic with Freddie is realistic and amusing! I’m sure lots of children will see themselves reflected in the pages.
There were facts littered throughout the book, which were interesting, as well as enjoyable! Freddie loves hunting for facts, and so will young readers after reading this!
