About Us: literacy training and resources for schools
Just Imagine provides literacy training and resources for schools as well as parents and home educators. We run online and face-to-face courses for schools, libraries and other organisations. We also supply books to schools, selected by our team of literacy experts.
Established in 2010 by Nikki Gamble, a former teacher, university lecturer and writer, Just Imagine consultancy works extensively with schools in the UK and internationally to develop outstanding reading and writing in schools, where stories and literature are placed firmly at the heart of learning.
Literacy training and consultancy
We run a regular programme of online courses for teachers covering topics such as teaching reading at KS1, teaching reading at KS2, language development and vocabulary, reading in curriculum subjects, developing reading fluency and from reading into writing. Reading Gladiators – an award-winning reading resource
Our award-winning reading challenge, now in its seventh year is available from years 2 through to year 6. For 2021 we introducing more flexibility so that teachers can target the children who would most benefit.

Take One Book – literature-based literacy resource
The Take One book resource provides a literacy solution for schools seeking to provide high quality-reading instruction in a context that promotes reading for pleasure.
The pedagogy is based on a synthesis from research and our own action research conducted for the London Schools Excellence Fund. Now in its fourth year, Take One Book is growing rapidly. It is a cost-effective resource for schools that want the assurance of well-conceived lesson planning with flexibility for teachers to adapt to their own context. An annual subscription includes free webinars exemplifying the approaches that are used in the lesson sequences.

A selection of books updated every term with class reading corners and school libraries in mind. With and optional iPad app avialable from the App Store. Joint winner of the UKLA Digital Award.

Nikki Gamble: Managing Director
Nikki has 40 years of experience in education as a teacher and teacher educator, providing literacy training and resources for schools. She has worked extensively in schools across the UK and internationally. She is the author of Exploring Children’s Literature (4th edit) (2019) Co-author of Guiding Readers (2016) and Poetry by Heart. Nikki is KS2 reading advisor and series consultant for Oxford University Press and content creator for the Oxford School Improvement and Oxford Owl websites. Nikki is currently developing new literary projects under the Exploring Children’s Literature banner but continues to oversee new developments at Just Imagine including the Discover Literacy Livestream channel.
Sam Keeley: Director of Learning Programmes
Sam has worked in education for 15 years, providing After working in Hertfordshire teaching all ages from Key Stage One to Three and becoming a Leading Literacy Teacher, she moved to Essex and worked as a literacy consultant for the Local Authority before joining the team at Just Imagine where she continues to Literacy training and resources for schools, Sam says, ‘I have never grown out of loving children’s books and I am lucky to be able to share this with the teachers and children I work with as well as with my own two young children. The best part of my job is finding ways to make brilliant books come to life in the classroom.’ Sam manages the Take One Book programme and runs training courses along with a team of associate consultants.
Caroline Bradley: Creative Director
Previously an English teacher and children’s librarian, working in academic and public libraries and for Essex School Library Service, Caroline manages the award-winning Reading Gladiators™ challenges. She helps select and curate the titles for Best Books for Schools and provides library services.
Wil Nicolaou: Business Manager
