Michelle Paver is a British novelist who was born in Malawi where she lived until she was three years old. Her mother was Belgian and her father was South African.
Michelle was educated at Wimbledon High School and went on to read biochemistry at Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford, After University she became a partner in a City of London law firm.
Her first children’s novel, Wolf Brother was published in 2004. Set during the Stone Age this is the story of twelve-year-old Torak and his companion, Wolf. Following a mortal wounding by a bear, Torak’s father speaks through his dying breath and asks his son to make him a promise. Alone, wounded, terrified and on the run, Torak must now lead the bear to the Mountain of the World Spirit – a mountain that no one has ever found before.
This is the first book in The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness which is followed by seven more books, the most recent is Skin Taker published in April 2021. In this episode she talks to Nikki Gamble about this latest book.
