If your class love baking and mystery stories that they can read themselves, then this is the book for them!

Freddie Bonbon lives and bakes in a town called Belville, where he is the proud owner of ‘Freddie’s Amazing Bakery’ which is managed by his friend Amira. Everyone in the town loves his cakes, macaroons and eclairs.  However, someone loves his baking creations a bit too much, as they keep being stolen! As if that wasn’t bad enough, during a visit by superstar cat Cookie she also disappears. Can Freddie and his dog Flapjack solve the mysteries and save the day (and the cat?)

This read alone book is the second in the series and is a great edition to the class bookshelf. It could also be used to engage reluctant readers of any age. It would appeal to fans of TV baking shows and those who like a mystery.  As well as the engaging story written by Harriet Whitehorn, the illustrations by Alex G Griffiths really add to the fun and bring the characters alive. The book includes a recipe and a glossary of baking terms, which I am sure would encourage children to follow up their reading in a delicious way!
